Why we build for European businesses, and what we believe about how they actually work.
What We Believe About European Business
European businesses do not operate the way Silicon Valley assumes they do.
The dominant AI narrative — fast scaling, blitzscaling, capital-fueled growth, winner-takes-all markets — is calibrated for a small slice of the global economy. Most of the world’s businesses don’t look like that, and almost none of Europe’s do. The growing manufacturer in Baden-Württemberg, the SaaS company in Tallinn, the logistics operator in Lyon — these are disciplined, capital-efficient operators serving real customers across regulatory environments that don’t exist in California. They’ve survived longer than most US unicorns will.
EU SMEs represent 99.8% of all enterprises in the European Union, employ approximately 100 million people, and generate over half of the EU’s business value added.1 This is not a niche market. It is the European economy. And it is the market least well served by the data and AI tools currently shipping from the United States.
What We Believe About Data
Business data decays. Continuously, measurably, everywhere.
Companies merge, rename, relocate, and close. Domains change hands. Records drift, duplicate, and contradict each other across systems. Every CRM, ERP, and marketing automation system is a snapshot of a world that keeps moving after the snapshot is taken. This is not a software defect and it is not a discipline failure by the people who maintain the system. It is entropy, and it accrues whether or not anyone is watching.
The consequence is familiar to anyone who runs revenue operations: campaigns aimed at companies that no longer exist under that name, sales territories built on stale records, forecasts resting on duplicate accounts, and — quietly, expensively — good leads written off because the data around them was too degraded to match.
The industry’s standard answer is a one-time cleanup project. That answer is wrong, because entropy does not stop when the project ends. Decay is continuous, so remediation must be continuous. A cleanup is where the work starts, not where it finishes.
What Znu-Cloud Builds
We measure the decay in a business’s CRM, recover the value hidden inside it, and keep it recovered.
The engagement starts with a diagnostic: we run our matching and enrichment engine against your CRM data and report — in concrete numbers — what is stale, what is duplicated, what is recoverable, and what it is worth. From there, remediation runs as an ongoing service, because the data keeps moving and so do we. Our reference dataset covers 16 million European companies, and the engine behind it has run continuously in production for five years.
Everything is built with EU data sovereignty as a core architectural commitment, not a compliance checkbox: EU-owned infrastructure, EU hosting, EU-jurisdiction processing throughout.
The principles are these: measurable, continuous, defensibly European.
A note on AI: generic AI tools are trained on what the world has written down, and the world has written down almost nothing about the 23 million small and medium businesses that make up European commerce. We believe AI becomes genuinely useful to an SME only when it is grounded in that business’s own data — clean, current, and processed inside the EU. That is the sequence we are building in: remediated data first, intelligence on top of it. Work in that direction is described on the Portal preview page.
Who We Are
Our technical co-founder is Grover Righter. He has spent 17 years as a platform consultant to more than 200 technology companies — CRM, marketing automation, and ERP. Before that: co-author of Portable C, one of the original sixteen members of the IEEE POSIX committee, and an engineer through the Bell Labs UNIX commercialization era at Novell and SCO. He has served as VP Engineering over organizations of 600+ engineers, and his previous company was acquired in an IBM/ROLM transaction.
Znu-Cloud OÜ is incorporated in Estonia (registry code 17390732), with infrastructure hosted in the EU and engineering work conducted across European time zones. EU data sovereignty isn’t a marketing position for us. It’s the architecture.
Our extended team of platform engineers, CRM specialists, and data engineers works under GDPR every day — data protection is not a policy we reference, it is the operating environment we build in. Our processing agreements, sub-processor chain, and hosting choices are documented and available to customers under NDA.
We’ve watched the same patterns repeat across hundreds of companies for two decades: decaying data, miscalibrated strategy, vendors selling capability without context. Znu-Cloud is the company we would have wanted to hire many years ago.

Getting in Touch
If anything on this page resonated — or didn’t — we are interested either way. The conversation about European data infrastructure is in its early stages, and the buyers, builders, and operators figuring it out together will shape what gets built next.
